My Beatport Track of the Week

Defected brings us another massive house track.   This time a track by Robaco Bossa called “Black Bird”.

When you think house music, this is exactly the kind of song that should come to mind.  Not too hard, not too soft; something you can chill out and bob your head to and at the same time something you can get up and dance to!

Crookers @ SkyBar

The very next night after deadmau5, I was fortunate enough to see Crookers at SkyBar (inside The Guvernment) in Toronto.  We lucked out and the weather was absolutely perfect for the rooftop patio party!  This was my 4th time seeing Crookers live and they did not disappoint as usual.

They began at 12:30am and opened up with a little bit of Proxy – Raven which got the crowd going very quickly.  The proceeded to play a 3 hour set that was jammed packed with all the best fidget, electro and house music out there right now.  They dropped many of their own tracks and remixes including their new yet-to-be released track “Put Your Hands On Me” and of course Day N Nite and Thunderstruck.

The most unexpected track of the night was Zombie Nation – Kernkraft 400.  That was the last song I was expecting to hear Crookers play, but that’s what makes them so great.  They play whatever they want and it always mixes in so well with what they are doing.  They even ended with a Wu-Tang song!

Before we knew it, it was 3:30am and the staff was forcing them to shut things down.  Crookers ALWAYS play an amazing, high energy set that anyone can enjoy; even those who do not usually listen to this music.

deadmau5 @ Dragon Fly

Last night I went to see deadmau5 perform at Dragon Fly in Niagara Falls.  He played an amazing set as usual and it was a blast!

My friend and I managed to spot deadmau5 outside of the club before we went in and we chatted with him for a bit.  😎  He ranted to us about Tommy Lee’s latest purchase of production equipment and gave us insight about the new track on his myspace, “asdfghjkl”.  He told us that it is now complete, but doesn’t know when it will be released.  If it were up to him, he would have given it out to people that night!

His favourite stop on this tour so far? Jakarta, Indonesia 😯

He is definitely down to earth and loves what he does.
